Ethernet port a requirement, when add?

Hypothetically speaking if someone showed you a poll of rachio users where 99% said they don’t care about wired port 1. you would not believe it and 2. insist that rachio build for the 1%?

Anyone able to identify this moss?

Can’t confirm 100% but looks like moss. I also have it where there is less grass and sun shines less. Mother nature will cover that bare ground with something!

Winterizing Wireless Flow Meter

I didn’t do anything to mine and it survived the first winter last year in Virginia. I don’t know how many more it will survive though. If we should something to protect it from cold, I would also like to hear from Rachio!

High flow notification won't go away

The problem for me was there was a notification that was preventing the message to go away after calibration. Support helped me with it. It’s the small icon on the top right of the app (on iPhone anyway). After I archived/cleared the notification, the hi-flow message went away.

Schedules are lacking needed features!

I wanted to water every 1-2 hours from 9am to 4pm for 2 minutes per zone to keep the seed moist. I had to create a LOT of schedules.

Why did Rachio decide to have no dials

May be the answer is another limited app installed on a <$50 android phone, mounted in a waterproof box next to the controller?

My lawn is turning brown and I can’t figure out how to adjust the settings

Depending on where you live, I have seen that you have to pump a lot of water and fertilizer to keep the lawn green in summer. For example with 90 degrees plus temp, most of it tries to go dormant. If I give it a “light” watering every day, and some of it turns green. I am unsure how much water you want to use ideally.

Subscription service

The only guarantee in life is death. Everything else is faith or gamble! I have seen products die when they start to force app subscription fees with the hardware so I would hate to see rachio go that route.

Use cases for integrations?

I was thinking to turn the sprinklers on when it detects motion in the yard to prevent cat/dogs doing their business burning the turf but it started turning the sprinklers on way too often on people also! Ring camera needs a “pet” detection mode!

Will "before sunrise" be fixed this year?

Rachio 3 and Smartthings

I put this in for dogs and then the mail delivery guys were getting wet so had to stop it! I need a motion sensor that can specifically detect dogs and cats somehow.

Best wi-fi option for renters

I had that before (not for rachio) and the tenants downloaded torrents and whatnot I got all the notices. So, be careful with that.

Why does it water starting at 5PM?

I did this a couple of months ago and then it rained and everything was 100% and then everything went down to 0% around the same time. So, you would have to keep doing it every time it rains so may not be the best approach considering this is a set and forget system.

Is there a minimum length of pipe required after the Flow Meter?

Seems like you already know the answer as you are quoting the instructions, yet you are looking for a human to confirm for some reason? I followed the length that the instructions said.

Ok… never mind, it was 1". The pipe I got from Home Depot for measurement was steel galvanized so the comparison wasn’t right. All good and all installed!

Rachio Needs More Distributors

I also installed mine in 15 minutes but I have friends who can’t even connect two wires together. When a contractor comes to turn on/turn off service they usually recommend rainmachine or some other brand. The homeowner hasn’t done any research and just accepts the contractor's recommendation.

Winterizing with flow meter - would there be any damage?

Bump. Confirming this again. High air psi that is used to blow out the irrigation system in winter would not damage the flow meter right?

Why does it water starting at 5PM?

My +1 vote for this. I think it is important to not start watering 9 PM at night because of the rot and other diseases that moisture on the blades can cause.

Meet the Rachio 3 Smart Water System (aka Wireless Flow Metering!)

Just got version 2 from Amazon (still in box) but see that a version 3 is in pre-order. Reading through this thread I am having a hard time understanding if there are features other than wireless flow meter that are dependent on the new hardware and will not make it to version 2 as a software upgrade.
