Winterizing the Sprinkler

As the winter weather takes over & the temperature plummeting down .. to ( below 40•F

@ night ) copper pipes ( especially) can freeze and break open the lines ! Please winterize the Sprinklers using a Compressor @ 60 PSI pressure ( by Shutting the water line OFF) run open the Rachio zones using the App for about 4~5 times …! It will Clear the Standing water in those lines for the next season ! Ready to Start !

I threw together a web app to help winterize an irrigation system controlled by Rachio using an attached air compressor. It’ll cycle through your zones (with a wait time in between) for you. It runs entirely in your browser and does not send your data anywhere other than Rachio.

I suggest using this on a computer (not phone) which is set to not go to sleep. Feel free to submit issues / suggestions in the GitHub repo (preferred) or here, though I can’t promise I’ll be able to make updates very often.

Ok.. That’s cool!!! As I had already winterized it manually I ran it for a few cycles and it seems fine. Next year!!! Thanks for posting it.

I’m totally new to all of this. How do I start my system now after it was winterized in the fall? My outdoor hose sprinklers are working but my Rachio sprinklers aren’t.
