We are excited to announce a new piece of hardware in our lineup for 2025!

The 200-watt Rachio Smart Lighting Controller uses all of the same technology that you love, as well as some new tricks. Control your low voltage lighting with up to three zones, multiple controllers, multiple scenes and other configurations in the Rachio App. Designed to be mounted outdoors (no enclosure required) and plugs directly into a protected outdoor socket. Expected to ship in July.

Love it, Congrats, I hope to be first on the list to receive it. I’ve combined a couple solutions so I can create zones of light. This market is underserved. Do you know what voltage it will support? A couple of my runs are longer and my current voltage drop requires me to have a transformer that can output higher than 12v

Ahh, the transformer is built in? Not going to be able to do 12VDC, 12VAC and 24VDC systems? I could see just offering a relay (and electronic fuse?) option so you can supply any voltage system, or choose your power bank for it. Fuses make troubleshooting shorts so much easier. Having external power supply makes PSU replacement much more customer friendly.

Awe. Some! But PLEASE think ahead and integrate a comms protocol in it, per zone, to allow same power wire comms with eventual future Rachio garden lights to change colors. Lights would have to have receivers, but bring something new to the market please. Want to be able to change light colors on special occasions. Think 4th of July. Think each light with a programmable address and through the wire comms. Please Or I’ll have to invent it

That would be an awesome integration, but at the price point of the Rachio lighting, I can’t imagine that will be possible. We are redoing our yard now and looking into lighting systems that can do this, and I can tell you for an absolute that they are nowhere near $299!

Are you looking at a 3-zone, smart, lighting controller? I have not found that many and know that one is VERY expensive, but it is proprietary (non-standard power & protocol) to do colors on their own system.

Yes, one of my customers is getting me a setup from Alliance Lighting. They use BT repeaters placed around the yard to allow the color changing and dimming. I know @Linn has probably the premiere setup on the market, but my customer says the setup he’s putting together for me should function the same at a lower price point. I haven’t gotten the price back yet, but I’m sure it won’t be cheap.

But I am excited to try out the Rachio on another project of mine!

I want a device to replace my PoS Kichler controller. Their hardware sucks (I am on my 3rd device. Thankfully replaced under warranty.) Their software is even worse. Bad (very unintuitive) from the beginning and zero updates in 4 years.

Ha, it does have 3 zones, so you might only need one, I would say 2 at most depending on how large the install is. We just sent a preorder email, I will forward to you in case you were not on the list.

Yeah that’s for sure. C2Clandscapelighting.com has good prices on solid brass fixtures. I lit this backyard a few months ago. All fixtures and transformers came from them.

I would not call it a lighting controller.

It is an integrated transformer/controller.

There is a difference.

As an owner of 2 Rachio controllers, I got the announcement for the new lighting controller. I have been asking for the Rachio irrigation controller to do this so I thought it was cool Rachio was coming out with a solution. When I saw the price, my first thought was does a similar product exist at a better price point? At least one does. I’m not sure if it has matter support and it doesn’t integrate with the Rachio app. Do these 2 things make this controller worth 3 times more?

Yeah sure it’s work it. At least to us Rachio followers…. I’ve been waiting for Rachio to do such a thing for a long time. I guess I had a hunch or maybe it was on the DL.

I can’t wait till it ships. I’ve been working on lighting my pathways and uplighting my trees in the meantime…

Hey @franz ,

Both Ring and Hampton Bay make a similar product for $100. Why the steep price tag on this one? I like having just one app, just not for $200.
