Original flow meter problems

I have one of the original Rachio flow meters and have had nothing but problems with it. Mainly, the battery just seems to die after a few weeks. I’ve replaced it already and the batteries as well, but it keeps failing. Is there any update on this device to get it working properly? I’ve basically given up on it and unhappy I wasted money on it, but wondering if there’s any workaround or fix for this thing. I don’t want to have someone come out and replace it again. Thanks.
