Multiple Controllers and One Flow Meter

Feature Request: Allow One Wireless Flow Meter Connect to Multiple Controllers. I think this is a fairly normal configuration. I only have one backflow preventer.

I have read the “Advanced Installation for Rachio Wireless Flow Meter”.

Hey @davestanton!
You can install 1 flow meter per backflow preventer. But at the most, you can have two backflow preventers, two Wireless Flow Meters, and one Rachio 3.

The EveryDrop WL-1200 wireless flow meter allows one flow meter to be hooked up to multiple controllers. This is useful if you have a larger system with more than 16 zones. The transmission protocol of the WL-1200 is basically “one-way”, from the sensor to the interface, so if you buy a second UMI-200 interface, it can connect to the second controller and receive the same flow information as the first one. This only makes sense if you have the flow meter on a single mainline feeding all the zones. One problem will be that when the first controller is running, the second one will see flow and report it as a leak. Probably the best solution would be to turn off leak notifications on one of them (can’t remember if that’s possible, separate from all flow meter notifications). You’d still catch mainline leaks using one controller, and individual zones will still have their own calibration and high/low limit values.
